"There I was in the middle of the street, with a great big automobile coming straight at me!"
The boy opened his blue eyes wide in remembering. "I couldn't get out of the way. I couldn't do anything. Then I thought of something I had learned in the Christian Science Sunday School: 'I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me' (Phil. 4:13). All at once, I was on the pavement at the other side of the street."
What happened in that split second between the onrush of the car and the safe arrival at the other side of the street? Something like the rescue long ago when Christ Jesus walked over the water to help his disciples in their small boat tossed by a violent wind. At first the men were frightened at his appearance. Was it a ghost? they questioned. Then they recognized their Master and welcomed him aboard the ship, and immediately the ship was at the land where they were going. Eternity was there in that moment.
