It is with heartfelt gratitude to Mrs. Eddy for her wonderful discovery of the absolute healing power of the Christ, Truth, as taught and demonstrated by Christ Jesus, that I wish to share the first evidence I had that Christian Science is ever available for our use. I had the privilege of being reared in this Science, and my healing took place one Sunday morning while I was at Sunday School.
At that age I wore short trousers and had a large wart visible on my right kneecap. It had always bothered me, because I was aware that none of the other children had one. When I drew this to the attention of our teacher, he explained the perfection of God and of man in His likeness, as had been brought out in the Bible Lesson from the Quarterly. Then he asked us to close our eyes and quietly to think about what we had learned.
I remember that during the silent prayer which followed, my whole consciousness seemed to be filled with the thought that God is Love. It was as if I were standing in the middle of a large room, the very atmosphere of which was filled with this thought that God is Love. The teacher asked me not to look at my knee during the remainder of the class. I did as he directed, and during the course of the session I forgot entirely about the wart.
