From the August 1960 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Christian Science came to me as an answer to a deep search for a better knowledge of the Bible and a better understanding of God. I remember with gratitude the visit to a Christian Science practitioner, who explained very simply man's true relationship to God, saying that it could be learned by the study of the Bible, together with Science and Health. This textbook was procured at once, as was the Quarterly, which contains the weekly Lesson-Sermon, and I began consistent study.

Difficult situations in the home were resolved by the application of the truth, which through many years has enabled me to turn to God as Father-Mother, an ever-present guide and protection. The whole trend of my experience was lifted into higher and happier thought, and eventually opportunity to serve in the Christian Science movement opened to me.

In our family broken bones, incipient tuberculosis, a malignant growth, gangrene, polio, and unhappy dispositions have been healed by the consecrated application of Christian Science. I have had many instances of guidance and protection, several of which emphasize the importance of our Leader's instruction given on page 390 of Science and Health, where she says: "Suffer no claim of sin or of sickness to grow upon the thought. Dismiss it with an abiding conviction that it is illegitimate, because you know that God is no more the author of sickness than He is of sin."
