The Reign of Good

From the August 1960 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Evil will try to gain its fullest measure
Of false dominion in the world of men,
Promising to the eye, the ear, its pleasure,
Making assaults again and yet again.
Yet men need never fear base evil's legions
When armed by Truth and Love, which conquer all;
Guarded by angels, safe in loftier regions,
Man's higher selfhood, stainless, cannot fall.
Only one power, God, who rules the nations
With justice, can prevail, triumphant He,
Supremely able to meet all negations
With positive assurance, full and free.
Mankind will see, when God is understood,
Dark evil yielding to the reign of good.
