Often in our human experience discordant mortal suggestions regarding our health, affairs, and relationships come flooding into our consciousness, threatening to overwhelm us with a sense of hopelessness and defeat. But as we turn in thought to the omnipresence of Spirit, God, as revealed in Christian Science, we find a standard by which we can gauge the validity of the beliefs assailing us, the standard of perfect God and His expression, perfect man.
In Science and Health, Mrs. Eddy writes (p. 470): "The standard of perfection was originally God and man. Has God taken down His own standard, and has man fallen?"
By this standard we "judge righteous judgment" (John 7:24) and learn in Christian Science how to examine scientifically the thoughts and conditions claiming to be included in human experience. We learn to question whether or not the quality of thoughts we are entertaining of ourselves or others measures up to the standard of perfect Mind, divine Love, God.
