When I was a little girl, my mother, who had been an invalid for several years, was healed after three days of treatments by a Christian Science practitioner. My mother then took up the study of Science, and I was enrolled in the Christian Science Sunday School.
Soon after I began to attend Sunday School, I had a severe attack of croup. I had been subject to croup from babyhood, and this particular attack caused my parents great fear and anxiety. While they were at my bedside, my father expressed his fear aloud.
In Sunday School I had learned just enough of God and of man's relationship to Him to say: "I am not afraid. God did not make croup. I cannot have something which God did not make."
