Having been reared in a home where regular church attendance and daily family worship were among my earliest recollections, I learned to love the Bible and to a certain extent make use of its teachings in my daily life. However, I was never satisfied with my religious outlook, and for ten years I had sought in vain for relief from anemia.
One doctor said I had markings of pernicious anemia, and another said I was on the verge of tuberculosis. Finally, when all that I held dear was slipping or had slipped away from me, I was able to look up and say, "Well, I still have God."
Within a few days the Christian Science textbook was placed in my hands. The very first pages brought comfort and hope. I read the textbook through to see whether there was anything in the teachings of Christian Science which was contrary to my present belief in God. When I finished I knew I had found a satisfactory interpretation of the Bible. Also that was the end of the physical difficulty which had bothered me for years. I was completely healed.
