It is some twenty-nine years since my first testimony appeared in the Journal. Since that time the blessings which Christian Science has brought to our family would fill a book.
One day I was tobogganing and went over a hidden rise, so that the toboggan left the ground and came down heavily on a stony patch barely covered with snow. The base of my spine received a tremendous jar. After the first moment of pain and a quick declaration that in reality I, as an idea of God, divine Mind, could not be harmed, I thought no more about it. However, I was not alert enough to deny the mortal belief that something unpleasant had happened.
For weeks I had difficulty every time I sat down or got up. Months later, when on holiday, I was fidgeting about on the beach, trying to find a comfortable position. A relative who is not a student of Christian Science asked if I was in pain. I started to tell her the story of the accident. Suddenly, as I spoke, I realized the state of my thought. All that time I had been believing that something had really happened which could cause an injury. I saw quite clearly in that moment that man can never experience anything which can result in discord and pain since God, good, is the only cause, and man is His spiritual image and likeness. The healing took place then and there.
