"IN THY PRESENCE IS FULNESS OF JOY"

From the February 1961 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Christian Science teaches that only in the consciousness of God's presence can we find real and lasting joy and satisfaction. Mortals seek satisfaction in matter and fail in the attempt. Through practicing the truths taught in Science we can overcome error's claims to reality.

Deceptive materiality sometimes seems to be attractive and to bring one pleasure, but the continual indulgence of such so-called pleasure leaves one unsatisfied and unhappy and perhaps with the added problem of trying to free oneself of a bad habit.

Anything unlike divine Love, anything contrary to God's spiritual demand for perfection, may be called sin. In Christian Science many are learning to put down the claims of sin and to find the joy and satisfaction that come from the consciousness of man's unity with his heavenly Father. On page 2 of her book "Unity of Good," Mrs. Eddy gives us some useful hints as to how we can gain this result in our human experience. In a helpful paragraph she states: "The sinner has no refuge from sin, except in God, who is his salvation. We must, however, realize God's presence, power, and love, in order to be saved from sin."
