THE ALLNESS AND EVER-PRESENCE OF GOOD

From the February 1961 issue of The Christian Science Journal

"God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good" (Gen. 1:31). Christian Science teaches that God and good are one and the same. Since God is All, it follows that good must be and is All. Since He is everywhere, then good must be everywhere. Since He is ever present, then good is ever present. It is on this premise that Christian Science is founded. This is the scientific basis for all prayer, activity, motive of thought and action. Mrs. Eddy writes in Science and Health (p. 473), "God is everywhere, and nothing apart from Him is present or has power."

Christian Science also teaches what is in accord with the Bible: that man is the image and likeness of God; man, then, is spiritual and not material or mortal.

Christian Science does not teach that physique, or flesh, blood, and bones, is man. Science does not ignore evil, but destroys it on the basis of the allness of God, or good. What appears to the so-called human thought as evil is nothing more than a suppositional belief in something besides God, an impossibility.
