The paths and fields of Galilee were filled
With lovely flowers. The birds sang merrily.
The heart within the Master must have thrilled
At all the beauty everywhere he went.
A little child sits playing in the dust
And lifts his head. He waves and smiles. We must
Believe. The heart of love will always see
A joyous world. Though evil claims to be,
It has no truth. Its lies can all be stilled.
When in our growth we come to see we stand
Within God's presence, live and love God's Word;
When we are sure we really know at last
The truths our scientific thought imparts,
We can well judge how much we love the Lord
By the degree of joy within our hearts.
And we shall seize this joy and hold it fast
To the extent we really understand.
