RECOGNITION OF FUNDAMENTAL TRUTHS

From the March 1961 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Recognition of the fundamental truths of Christian Science is essential if anyone wishes to progress in understanding his true being and that of his fellow men, as well as gain a fuller life and true happiness.

The first and foremost truth to be recognized is that of God as He really is. When we recognize God as a wholly good, tender, and loving Parent, Mother as well as Father, pouring forth abundant blessings upon His children, we immediately gain a calm sense of security and love.

Another important truth of Christian Science which needs recognition is that since God made man in His image and likeness, as we are told in the first chapter of Genesis, each one of us is in reality a complete individual expression of the Father-Mother God. The recognition of man as the male and female of God's creating liberates one from the limitations or idiosyncrasies attached to a human man or woman because of the belief in sex or gender, a belief which brings with it a sense of incompleteness or separation from good.
