Spiritual knowing, not wishful thinking or mere hopeful optimism, is the solution of mankind's problems, both individual and universal.
Christ Jesus knew this and put his knowledge into practice. He said to those who believed in him and to those believers of all time, "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free" (John 8:32). This kind of knowing requires definite mental action on the thinker's part. It is a call to all men to be divinely truthful knowers.
Jesus was the most powerful knower of truth the world has ever known. He knew that mere speculation about the truth would not solve the problems of mankind. Speculative theories may be interesting for a while and may engross attention, even stirring human thought to the contemplation of possibilities outside the narrow limits of human history and empirical knowledge. But until these theories are relinquished, and steadfast, unchanging Truth, or God, is acknowledged to be supreme and is allowed to unfold in individual consciousness, the truth will be obscured. The demand of these times is that we be knowers of the truth or spiritual knowers and not wishful nor speculative thinkers.
