Superficially considered, a home may seem to be a material structure. But scientifically understood, our true dwelling place is wholly spiritual. In her book "Pulpit and Press," Mrs. Eddy tells us (p. 2), "The real house in which 'we live, and move, and have our being' is Spirit, God, the eternal harmony of infinite Soul."
If we accept the superficial and think of ourselves as only being housed materially, we subject ourselves unnecessarily to all sorts of material limitations and discords. But to the degree that we acknowledge and understand the spiritual nature of our real abode, we bring our human home, and all that is associated with it, under the law of God, which is the law of good.
In Christian Science we learn to look beyond the superficial, material sense of things to the spiritual fact. When we do so with respect to our home, we find that it is not merely a fabrication of wood, stone, and steel, but that its essential elements are divinely mental. We read in Proverbs (24: 3, 4), "Through wisdom is an house builded; and by understanding it is established: and by knowledge shall the chambers be filled with all precious and pleasant riches."
