When I was a child, living in Indian Territory, the owner of the land my father farmed built a beautiful house. He and his family loved to look at the house, to talk of it, to show it to visitors, and sometimes to go into it during stormy weather. But, to avoid doing what was necessary to keep it clean and beautiful, they continued to live in their old teepee.
Mankind may attain some understanding of perfect God and His perfect creation; but unless they relinquish outgrown mortal concepts and live consistently in conscious union with what they spiritually perceive, are they not depriving themselves of blessings?
Mrs. Eddy writes in Miscellany (p. 160), "To live so as to keep human consciousness in constant relation with the divine, the spiritual, and the eternal, is to individualize infinite power; and this is Christian Science." As we study the Bible in the light of scientific revelation, we become aware that man's real house is not a material structure but individual consciousness and that inner convictions control outward conditions.
