When I was young, a dentist predicted that my teeth would grow in crookedly, but the prayers of my parents in Christian Science counteracted the difficulty, and my teeth grew in straight. At about the same time a painful condition which had persisted for some time on the sole of one of my feet was healed one day while I was visiting the friend who had introduced my family to Christian Science.
A few years ago a pain in my back had restricted my activities for several days. When walking home with difficulty one day, I saw the branches of some beautiful trees swaying in the breeze and realized that in regretting and fearing the trend of certain events, I had been resisting the fact of God's ever-presence. Gratitude for the beauty of God's perfect, spiritual creation and a joyous expectancy of good dissolved the mental resistance, and I was free, both mentally and physically.
I have also been healed of a sprained ankle, colds, sore throat, a loss of voice, and of other minor discomforts. One day I was healed of a sense of weakness and stomach disorder with the realization that nothing could stop me from expressing the joy and happiness which belonged to me as God's perfect child. I felt that I would be unable to drive for a relative who was to visit us and who was afraid of car sickness; but I set off, and on my way there I sang hymns, refusing to dwell on my physical condition.
