"A TENURE OF UNPRECARIOUS JOY"

From the June 1964 issue of The Christian Science Journal

The Christian Scientist has many opportunities for blessing mankind in the course of the daily round. The joy, serenity, and love which he acknowledges as his God-given possessions harmonize his relationships with others, and they calm confusion and uncertainty in the common routine.

Christian Scientists have the example of Mrs. Eddy's love for humanity and her deep desire to bless and heal impartially. She expressed tender compassion in these words of one of her poems (Poems, p. 6):

If thou the bending reed wouldst break
By thought or word unkind,
Pray that his spirit you partake,
Who loved and healed mankind.
