In her book "Miscellaneous Writings," Mrs. Eddy says (p. 223), "There is immense wisdom in the old proverb, 'He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty.'" Christian Science reveals man as spiritual and perfect, the image of God. Therefore to see man as mortal or as less than perfect is to accept the carnal mind's concept of man, which is false. Acknowledging and accepting the truth of the real man and his inseparable relationship with the one Mind unfold the fact that in him there is and can be no animal element such as anger.
Looking at anger through the clear lens of Science, we see that it is a false belief, or claim, of mortal mind. Being animal in nature and quality, it can in nowise be accepted as belonging to the real man's selfhood. Mrs. Eddy states (ibid., p. 36), "Appetites, passions, anger, revenge, subtlety, are the animal qualities of sinning mortals; and the beasts that have these propensities express the lower qualities of the so-called animal man; in other words, the nature and quality of mortal mind,— not immortal Mind."
Students of Christian Science at all times endeavor to look for the perfection of God's reflection in themselves and in others and to allow their thoughts to be governed by divine law in consonance with God's will. Thinking spiritual thoughts aligns them with Spirit. The transparency of spiritual sense reveals evil's unreality and the power to overcome any control which evil may seem to hold over them. Such scientific mental activity results in the manifestation, here and now, of omnipresent good, in the presence of which anger and strife fade from view.
