THE TRIUMPH OF GOOD

From the June 1964 issue of The Christian Science Journal

During these days of global struggle for the minds of men, when misguided nations would impose their unrighteous and immoral concepts upon the world, the inspired messages of the Bible sustain and encourage its readers with assurances of the triumph of good. James said (4:7): "Submit yourselves...to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you." Applied in human experience, such counsel opens the way to achieve in ever-increasing measure that which is really substantial and good, progressive and helpful, to oneself and to others.

Christ Jesus taught and proved that all the good there is comes from God, infinite good. He knew that as human consciousness is filled with good thoughts, the evils of a supposititious opposite influence, termed "devil" or "Satan," will gradually be eliminated, even though this process may seem to human sense a long and discouraging struggle.

The facts that God is good and that evil is unreal are made clear in Christian Science. Mrs. Eddy writes on page 231 of Science and Health: "God is not the author of mortal discords. Therefore we accept the conclusion that discords have only a fabulous existence, are mortal beliefs which divine Truth and Love destroy."
