Testimonies of Healing

[Original in German]

Even though I was able to remain in...

From the June 1964 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Even though I was able to remain in my usual surroundings after World War II, it was a difficult time, overshadowed as it was by the sudden passing of my brother and beset by all kinds of difficulties. I cannot imagine how I could have pulled through those months without the comfort of our periodicals. To be sure, we were not able to receive the Quarterly or The Herald of Christian Science (German Edition).

However, we were acquainted with an individual who no longer valued our literature, and he sent me a whole package of Heralds which I had not read. These were a source of blessing to me. I read them every free minute I had in order to lift myself above the confusing evidence of the senses, and I felt so close to all those who told of their experiences in the testimonies that I shall never cease to be grateful. May this testimony repay a little of my debt of gratitude.

Of the numerous blessings which have come to me through Christian Science, I should like to mention just two. Several years ago I hit my right shinbone very severely on an ash can in the passage to the cellar. The pain was very bad. Today I know I ought to have gone upstairs immediately and worked and prayed earnestly. Instead I decided to finish my household tasks, which I had just begun, hoping that the pain would disappear by itself.
