Throughout the world today there is a cry for freedom. Rightly viewed, this cry is for the things of Spirit, a reaching outward and upward to one's divine source in order to be liberated from the bonds of materiality. Men seek freedom of worship, freedom from pain and sorrow. They long for release from the enslaving senses. Youth yearns after freedom of expression. The longing heart desires freedom from ignorance, oppression, tyranny, and want.
The glorious truth is that man is free now. Our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, says, "God made man free." And she goes on to say: "Citizens of the world, accept the 'glorious liberty of the children of God,' and be free! This is your divine right."Science and Health, p. 227;
Accepting into one's consciousness, then, the true status of man, born not of the flesh but of Spirit, divinely related to all God's ideas, opens the way to spiritual self-fulfillment. The consecrated Christian Scientist through his prayers helps to liberate the sick and sinning, helps men to break the fetters of false theology, false so-called laws of medicine, false education, oppression.
