The theology of Christian Science restores primitive, practical Christianity. It attributes all power, presence, and activity to one infinite God, good. Christian Science is unique in that it differs from all other religions in logically holding to the truth that God is All-in-all; therefore that there can be no power equal or opposed to Him. There can be nothing more than all. Since God is Spirit, there can be no matter, the opposite of Spirit. Since God is good, there can be no reality in evil nor in the testimony of the material senses.
This true idea of God reveals the spiritual relationship of perfect God and perfect man, for the image and likeness of a perfect creator can be no less perfect than its cause. Christian Science thus honors God as no other religion honors Him. In recognizing a secondary power called evil, or devil, other theologies condemn human existence to a perpetual warfare between God and the devil, between the good of Spirit and the evil of material sense, with the outcome sometimes seemingly in doubt.
In Christian Science this so-called conflict between the flesh and Spirit is ended, not as the result of a warfare between two opposing powers but through a revelation of the superiority of the power of all-inclusive Love, against which there can be no resistance. In times of stress Love appears quiet as the dawn itself, irresistible, beautiful, divine, manifesting a power which is unconscious of anything besides itself.
