I was born and reared in Christian Science and attended Sunday School until I reached the age of twenty. However, it was not until several years after finishing Sunday School that I really appreciated and fully realized just how much Science meant to me.
Mrs. Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, writes in Science and Health (p. 265): "Who that has felt the loss of human peace has not gained stronger desires for spiritual joy? The aspiration after heavenly good comes even before we discover what belongs to wisdom and Love. The loss of earthly hopes and pleasures brightens the ascending path of many a heart. The pains of sense quickly inform us that the pleasures of sense are mortal and that joy is spiritual."
The above statement I found to be only too true. It was the loss of human peace that made me study to understand more of the truths taught to me in Sunday School and through which I grained a sense of spiritual joy.
