"I would like to send you the Christian Science textbook; I know it will help you." These words spoken by a Christian Science practitioner when I was in great need completely changed my life from one of sorrow, discouragement, and ill health to a life of spiritual happiness, hope, and well-being.
Weak and suffering from pernicious anemia, engulfed in grief and self-pity over the passing on of my young husband, and discouraged concerning the future of my two young children, I was led through the study of the textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, to catch a glimpse and then a fuller understanding that Life, my Life, is God—never ending, never without hope, never incomplete. In a short time, through the daily study of the textbook, I was completely healed of anemia; my life began to take on new meaning, and I wanted to live. I had found a reason for living—to glorify God.
"Spirit, God, gathers unformed thoughts into their proper channels, and unfolds these thoughts, even as He opens the petals of a holy purpose in order that the purpose may appear" (Science and Health, p. 506). This quotation sets forth a spiritual fact that has been a comforting guide in the spiritual growth of our family. The children blossomed and grew under the tender care and direction of their ever loving Father-Mother God and joyously dwelt with the nourishing truths taught in the Christian Science Sunday School; and when I married again, they were given the companionship of a kind and understanding human father. Individually and as a family we have striven to demonstrate our highest concept of home, companionship, and spiritual oneness. For these blessed children and a loving husband, I am more grateful than I am able to express in the written word.
