My experience has been blessed many times by my acknowledging God's abundant grace to all His children.
At the birth of our first child it seemed as though the delivery could not take place. Because of an irregular curvature of the spine, the normal channel for the baby was blocked, preventing passage. A practitioner who had supported me through prayer during the pregnancy was with me in the delivery room of a maternity home where I had gone to have the baby. I was on the delivery table about eleven hours, during which the practitioner repeated and discussed hymns from the Christian Science Hymnal, especially those by Mrs. Eddy.
Although I was aware that things were not progressing, I never doubted that the delivery would take place. I had no intention of passing on. I had prayed as faithfully as I knew how during the pregnancy, knowing God is the author of man and that in truth I reflected His wholeness, purity, and completeness as a spiritual idea, for I was not a matter-being at the mercy of so called mortal mind. I knew this was true not only of myself but of the baby as well, and so I was willing to trust God and Christian Science.
