Christian Science has been meaningful and precious to me since girlhood when I had the privilege of attending a Christian Science Sunday School. There I learned early to look to God for healing, and healings have been many. One stands out.
As I was dressing for an occasion in which I was to participate and would be among many people, I was surprised to see my upper lip almost covered with cold sores. As I looked into the mirror, I remember turning to God and declaring aloud spiritual truths of God's allness and of man's likeness to God as His reflection. Then I dismissed the matter completely and went about the day's activities. Not until I was retiring that night did this incident recur to my thought. There were then no cold sores, nor had anyone mentioned them during the day. The healing had been instantaneous.
Other healings have come naturally with spiritual growth and increased faith. An instance of this was the correction of an unsightly protruding underjaw and the straightening of teeth. While I was still very young, my parents dropped all thought of correcting this situation after being told by dentists that the only remedy (at that time) would be a painful process— the wearing of braces to retard the growth of the lower jaw.
