Gales tore at the ship,
lifted waves to heights
terrifying to trembling hearts.
But Love proved adequate,
adequate to still the storm.
Powerful as warm sun
breaking frozen earth,
powerful as push of leaf
up through obstinate crust,
Love penetrated the surging
confusion of the crowd;
drew the seeking, the yearning,
healed the one who touched only
the hem of the garment.
Love reached the dulled ear
through the sleep of death,
vitalized the inert Lazarus.
Love rolled away the rock
that sealed the tomb.
Love broke through thick
fog of centuries.
One purified disciple
loved enough to learn,
to reveal the method, to share,
to free humanity.
One, healed and inspired,
proved for all
the irresistible force
of Love.
