Recently I saw a young father gently pick up his small son who had fallen asleep in a big chair. Carefully he placed him in his bed, kissed him tenderly, and spoke of his great love for his son. Witnessing the love and devotion expressed in this brief scene, I thought, "This is a symbol of God's love for His children, for He holds the endearing attitude toward His child that this human father expressed."
Students contemplating the pure spiritual teachings of Christian Science begin to see more and more clearly that mankind's great need is an understanding of God as divine Love, man's only real parent. The human individual yearns to understand and express God's impartial love, for he knows that it is Love which heals instantly and meets every human need. Christian Science has answered the prayer of the Psalmist, "Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law." Ps. 119:18; The blessings of Love are wonderful to behold. They may seem dim and distant to the carnally-minded, but they are revealed and present to the pure in heart, those receptive to good.
Christ Jesus declared, "As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love." John 15:9; Because Jesus understood God, the only cause, to be the divine Principle, Love, he knew that it is right and natural for one to be well, happy, and complete, but wholly unnatural for anyone to be sick, sinful, or deprived of any good.
