Teaching the Seventh Commandment

From the July 1967 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Strict obedience to the seventh commandment is essential to the demonstration of the Science of being. Mrs. Eddy writes, "The commandment, 'Thou shalt not commit adultery,' is no less imperative than the one, 'Thou shalt not kill.'" Science and Health, p. 56;

Adultery is a subject often passed over lightly in the younger Sunday School classes. Sometimes a teacher will skirt the subject by using the illustration of pure milk and adulterated milk. The following experience illustrates the wrong concept that young children can develop.

A Christian Science family and some friends were discussing Christian Science at the dinner table. The young son of the family declared that his favorite commandment was, "Thou shalt not commit adultery." Ex. 20:14; Momentarily there was a stunned silence; then someone asked the boy why this was his favorite. He replied, "Because I like milk."
