I was led into Christian Science many years ago, not because I was seeking physical healing, but because I was searching for true religion as practiced by Christ Jesus and his disciples. I always knew that Christianly scientific government was operating, but I never thought I would find it in this world. However, divine Love, meeting my need, led me gently and firmly into this wonderful truth. My gratitude for Mrs. Eddy as Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science is very deep indeed. More and more I realize that only her pure transparency, her absolute self-surrender to God, could have produced the results it has; and I pray that I may follow her as she herself adjures (Message to The Mother Church for 1901, p. 34), "Obey strictly the laws that be, and follow your Leader only so far as she follows Christ."
The Christian Science Board of Lectureship is another cause for gratitude. About three years ago at a lecture I was healed instantaneously of a distressing hemorrhoid condition, for which I had had occasional treatment from various practitioners over many years. This particular afternoon I went to the lecture in great pain and feeling feverish, but there my thought was so exalted that for many days I was conscious only of there being one creator, Spirit, and one spiritual creation. There never was any other creation. I saw this so clearly that the physical disability completely disappeared.
My gratitude must also be expressed for Mrs. Eddy's establishment of class instruction, for the uplifting influence it brings into our lives, and for the joyous association meetings which help us to put into practice all we are striving to learn.
