Since beginning the study of Christian Science in 1913, I have had many healings. However, the benefit of Christian Science healing was experienced many years before, when, as an infant, I was healed of pneumonia by a Christian Scientist. My parents were not given any literature to read, and no further contacts were made for a long time.
On one occasion, when I was driving on an icy road in the Middle West, my car skidded and appeared headed for a ditch. An idea I had gained from a Christian Science lecture came to thought: "Because man lives in God, man is never in danger; he is always safe." No further trouble was encountered, and I continued on my journey.
At another time my husband and I were driving home in a snowstorm, when the windshield wiper stopped working. All efforts to start it were in vain. Then a single sentence from Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, came to thought (p. 399): "If Mind is the only actor, how can mechanism be automatic?" Instantly the wiper resumed action and worked until we arrived home, some fifty miles away.
