"In quietness and in confidence shall be...

From the September 1971 issue of The Christian Science Journal

"In quietness and in confidence shall be your strength" (Isa. 30:15).

About five years ago my husband and I were going up river in our boat, when the seat I was on broke, throwing me back against the bait tank. I became unconscious. When I opened my eyes, I could not see or move, but I could hear my husband saying over and over, "God is your Life." He managed to pull me up onto the seat beside him, but I could not move or speak. Since we were quite a distance from the boat landing, he kept talking to me, and managed to get me into the car and home.

When we arrived home, I crawled into bed and asked that he read to me from Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. All that night I seemed to drift in and out of a fog, always to hear his voice repeating the truth of my life maintained by God. The next morning he felt that he must open his office, and asked if there was anything I wanted before he left. I asked for a Christian Science Sentinel, which he brought to me. I came to an article written by one of the Editors in which he said he had experienced a similar situation. As I read of his response to the problem, I too knew that right in the midst of my so-called problem was the solution.
