True progress is the unfolding of good in all things; it comes as the result of spiritual inspiration and prayer. What is it that generally stands in the way of progress? Is it not often resistance to change, a stolid and stubborn characteristic of the mortal, or carnal, mind fearing failure and exposure? But the Christ, Truth, is come to reveal spiritual approaches and to overturn mortal beliefs, thus to show the way to progress out of limited and constricted modes of thought and action.
Because something has been done in a particular way for many years, this may very well be a good reason for taking a fresh look and introducing new and improved ideas, procedures, and rules! We should always be asking questions. Is this the way that God, divine Mind, would have us do it? Is there not a better way of doing this? Is it really necessary? Are we seeing others' point of view, and are we really trying to communicate? Is our work being hampered by outworn procedures that kill inspiration? Are we willing to change?
Conservatism and conventions are not lightly to be cast aside, however, as they are frequently based on permanent values; but they may need reevaluation with the advancing times. They should not be used as arguments to resist change.
