Testimonies of Healing

Recently in a Christian Science Sunday School...

From the September 1971 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Recently in a Christian Science Sunday School class we were discussing the importance of angels in our lives. One pupil defined angels as "the way God gets His messages across." Of course, this was a child's paraphrase of Mary Baker Eddy's definition on page 581 in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, which begins: "ANGELS. God's thoughts passing to man." Looking bark it is impressive just how many legions of angels I have entertained over the years, angels that have guided, protected, sustained, strengthened, comforted, me so often in so many ways.

My secondary education was at a school for the children of Christian Scientists. After an intervening five years of war service I was able to attend the university and complete a difficult five-year course with honors. I owe this achievement and my present enjoyment and exercise of life to an understanding of God, ever-present Life.

I was freed instantaneously of the smoking habit when I realized it did not contribute to my completeness as man, God-made. I was freed more gradually from the use of alcohol as a prop for a chronic case of sagging self-esteem.
