Some years ago my grandfather was told by a doctor that the disease he had was incurable. My grandfather only turned to Christian Science as a last resort, since he was openly critical of this religion. He was instantaneously healed after reading a copy of a Christian Science lecture. After this healing, along with the rest of his family, he became active in the Christian Science movement.
My mother strayed from this religion after her marriage. Then suddenly my father passed away, and my mother was left with bills to be paid and three small children to raise. In our moment of need Mother and we children, at the urging of an aunt, turned wholeheartedly to Christian Science for help. Mother was able to find a job to help support the family, and although our annual income was meager, our needs were always somehow met as they occurred, thus proving Mrs. Eddy's statement in Science and Health (p. 494): "Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need."
In my senior year of high school I knew that I wanted to go to college, but in spite of having worked and saved for quite some time, I did not have sufficient funds to pay for it. Also, a high school teacher told me that I might not make it through college. By relying more on God's love for man than on human opinions or circumstances, I was able to win a state tuition scholarship and be accepted at the state university, which has an active Christian Science college organization. Upon entering college I joined The Mother Church and became an active member in the "Org." For the first time I saw students my own age actually solving problems through their understanding of Christian Science.
