When I was a very young child, my mother became a student of Christian Science soon after her brother was healed of cancer of the stomach.
My uncle had been given but a very short time to live by the attending physicians, when a close friend of his recommended that he try Christian Science. Although he and the family were strongly opposed to what they believed this teaching to be, my uncle did consent to have Christian Science treatment, on the basis that he had nothing to lose and it would satisfy his friend. He was healed, and was with us for many happy years.
As a result of his healing my mother asked for treatment in Christian Science, and was healed of her illnesses. Many, many times I have heard her tell that after her visit with the practitioner she rode home on the streetcar, feeling a great sense of joy and peace. Then when she arrived home, she took a large basket of medicine out into the backyard and destroyed all of it. Never again did we have material medicine in our home.
