"I wish I'd written that"

From the August 1973 issue of The Christian Science Journal

When you read a fine metaphysical article, do you perhaps say to yourself, "I wish I'd written that"'? And then do you immediately think, "But I never could"? Well, you're right. That article was an individual expression of that author's study, prayer, and demonstration. It welled up out of his life of spirituality and love. You couldn't write his article.

But look at it another way. If you, too, have studied, prayed, persevered, triumphed—if you have lived your own life of spirituality and love—why not write your own article?

When you find that members of The Mother Church are asked to contribute to the Christian Science periodicals (see Miscellaneous Writings by Mary Baker Eddy, pp. 155, 156, 271), you may say, "My big stumbling block is that I don't know anything about grammar, sentence construction, or organization. I wouldn't know how to start." This may be true, but you can learn.
