Full Persuasion

From the February 1975 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Each of us can cultivate the fully-persuaded state of consciousness that the demonstration of Christian Science demands. Though we may not understand fully all the deep truths contained in the Bible and Mrs. Eddy's writings we cannot utilize spiritual truths with healing results without first being convinced of the accurate and positive nature of those truths. Mrs. Eddy writes in the textbook, "A mental state of self-condemnation and guilt or a faltering and doubting trust in Truth are unsuitable conditions for healing the sick."Science and Health, p. 455;

It is essential to accept unreservedly the limitless potentialities of the Christ, the spiritual idea of God. Then, having proved to some degree its effectiveness in the destruction of both sickness and sin, one is encouraged to press on to the attainment of greater conviction and spiritual enlightenment.

At times the suggestion of mental haziness or opacity of thought may prevent the clear perception of Truth necessary for the demonstration of dominion over evil. This, however, is not a state of consciousness known to or derived from the divine Mind. Clarity is a permanent characteristic of this Mind, and as Mind's perfect reflection, man always possesses this same clarity.
