Church in Action News and Announcements

From the Directors:

From the December 1977 issue of The Christian Science Journal

When Robert Peel's Mary Baker Eddy: The Years of Discovery was published in 1966, reviewers in many religious, popular, and scholarly publications welcomed it as giving fresh insight into Mrs. Eddy's early life and character.

The story was carried forward to 1891 when Mary Baker Eddy: The Years of Trial appeared five years later. Now the concluding volume of the trilogy has been published by Holt, Rinehart and Winston with the title Mary Baker Eddy: The Years of Authority.

Like the earlier volumes, this final one draws extensively on hitherto unused material in the Archives of The Mother Church. Much of the book throws new light on the struggles and triumphs attending the formation and early history of The Mother Church. All of it bears witness to the extraordinary vision, courage, and practical wisdom of the Founder of Christian Science in completing her lifework.
