The links in our lives. What an influence they have—the links we need, and the links we'd be better off without.
There is a link that lasts, and it's always good: our unity with God. As we probe and accept what this means, we can break the destructive links in our lives and set up more useful and satisfying ones. We can start out on this work totally assured that our unity with God has never been sundered, and never can be. This is the link that matters and the link that lasts.
Alongside the marginal heading "Man linked with Spirit" in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures are these words of Mary Baker Eddy's: "Matter cannot connect mortals with the true origin and facts of being, in which all must end. It is only by acknowledging the supremacy of Spirit, which annuls the claims of matter, that mortals can lay off mortality and find the indissoluble spiritual link which establishes man forever in the divine likeness, inseparable from his creator."
