Reject mortal definitions of man

Love Lived Is Love Made Known

From the December 1977 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Jesus of Nazareth, living in a remote province of the Roman world, taught that an understanding of the Christ, the true idea of God, promises ultimate salvation to everyone everywhere. What a challenge! Doubtless just as challenging was his proposal for making this fact known. "By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples," he said to his few followers, "if ye have love one to another." John 13:35;

For all who follow him today, are not these words of the greatest importance? We long to make his teachings better known, to share the blessings they have brought us. What did the great Teacher, we ask ourselves, mean by the word "love"?

When Mrs. Eddy discovered the law underlying Christ Jesus' words and works, naming her discovery Christian Science, she saw clearly that Love, God, is the actual Principle of creation. Love, thus understood, has none of the personal limitations usually associated with the word. God, Love, is the source of everything truly beloved, loving, lovely. To the degree that we perceive and understand divine Love's allness, our human sense of love is freed from mortal restrictions.
