From the August 1977 issue of The Christian Science Journal

"Blessed is the man that trusteth in the Lord, and whose hope the Lord is" (Jer. 17:7). "The God-principle is omnipresent and omnipotent. God is everywhere, and nothing apart from Him is present or has power" (Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, p. 473). These are but two short passages from the inexhaustible sources, the Bible and the Christian Science textbook, but they point the way to trust in God as the only power and lawgiver.

It is impossible to express in words my great gratitude for the many blessings received through the study and application of Christian Science. I first saw Science and Health at the home of friends. My inquiry as to its contents received only the brief explanation that God is Love and therefore everything He has made is good —that by understanding this statement one could also demonstrate it.

At that time I was working as a young mechanical engineer, and for many years I had suffered almost daily from chronic head and stomach pains. When the discomfort came the following day while I was at work, I thought of divine Love and tried to understand that in my case, too, what God had created was good. Two hours later the pains had disappeared and have never reappeared. It was indescribable, this first Christian Science healing, for I had experienced for the first time the intimate relationship between God and His child.
