Christian Science came into my life forty-five years ago. I had been brought up in an orthodox religion, but in my mid-teens I became dissatisfied with its teachings. Being religiously inclined, I began inquiring into other denominations, hoping to find a religion that would give me a better understanding of the Bible. It was at this time that a brother-in-law invited me to attend a Sunday service at a Church of Christ, Scientist.
I shall never forget that first service. I felt so uplifted and inspired that I knew this was the end of my search for a religion. I obtained a copy of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy and began to study earnestly. Soon after that I had an instantaneous healing of a bad cold. Two other quick healings were vivid proofs of the scriptural statement, "The word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword" (Heb. 4:12).
The first healing occurred when I was suffering from migraine and contacted a Christian Science practitioner for prayerful treatment. Relief came as soon as I finished telling her of the problem. Within ten minutes after hanging up the receiver, the pain had completely vanished and I felt renewed. My mother, who was not a student of Christian Science, saw this healing take place and was astonished at the sudden change in me. This wonderful, clear-cut healing has been a staff upon which to lean over the years if there has been a delay in working out a problem.
