A lesson from the tomato plants

From the September 1979 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Have you ever stopped to realize that we all have unlimited ability to perceive Truth, and with infinite outreach, because in actuality we reflect the one limitless Mind, God? Just consider for a moment the marvelous possibilities of the human being able to "see" his way through all the chaos that material sense presents today! Real seeing is knowing, and real knowing brings healing of whatever God, good, did not make.

Church membership encourages us to take vigorous steps forward in our spiritual seeing and knowing. Upon joining the church we pledged to do many things, which our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, sums up in the sixth tenet of Christian Science: "And we solemnly promise to watch, and pray for that Mind to be in us which was also in Christ Jesus; to do unto others as we would have them do unto us; and to be merciful, just, and pure." Science and Health, p. 497;

"That Mind . . . which was also in Christ Jesus." If Jesus had used his spiritual understanding only for himself and his immediate family, in all probability we would never have heard of him. But he was Godlike. The scope of his thoughts and prayers encompassed the universe. The fruits they produced were enough to change the world we live in and to bridge eternity.
