Love's rod of correction

The lack of discipline in today's society is cause for concern. As individuals everywhere act out what they believe is a right to go their own way, spiritual, moral, and civil laws are often disregarded. Of course, some are seeking solutions for checking this drift. The Bible offers hope in its promise of righteous government and universal salvation through Christ.

In forecasting the mission of the promised Messiah, the Bible declares, "There shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots: and the spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord; . . . and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked." Isa. 11:1, 2, 4;

Even as Jesus was the manifestation of the Christ, Truth, in his time, divine Science, or Christian Science, is the clear expression of the Christ today. This Science is the very voice of Truth, in a form comprehensible to people. The Psalmist confirms, "God hath spoken once; twice have I heard this; that power belongeth unto God." Ps. 62:11;
