When false or misleading testimony is submitted in a court of law, the attorney's job is to present the truth that refutes it. Treatment in Christian Science works in much the same way. When discord, which falsely contradicts God's law of perfection, presents itself to one, the opposite spiritual truth is declared and realized to refute and heal it.
For example, arguments of declining energy may be nullified with the spiritual fact of man's ageless continuity as the active, vital expression of ever-renewing Life. If bodily malfunctioning is the claim, this lie can be refuted with the fact of the perfect, orderly functioning of true, God controlled being. In like manner any physical or mental deformity may be healed through a clear comprehension of the undeviating beauty and wholeness of Mind's spiritual idea, man.
"The counter fact relative to any disease is required to cure it,"
Science and Health, p. 233; Mrs. Eddy writes in Science and Health. Instead of dwelling on a disease and its symptoms, in Christian Science treatment the individual or the practitioner on the case affirms the specific fact that denies the disease—the changeless harmony of God's spiritual creation. On the authority of God's law of harmony every evidence of discord is rejected as a mistaken belief and replaced with the opposite spiritual truth.
