As a Christian Scientist, I often acknowledge, through the words of the Psalmist, the good that has been mine during a lifelong association with this systematic healing religion (Ps. 107:8):"Oh that men would praise the Lord for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!"
Church has always been a focal point for me—from my days as a pupil in the Christian Science Sunday School through to membership in The Mother Church and a local branch Church of Christ, Scientist. When I was just starting out, in order to gain experience in the work I was doing, I had to move several times. In each of the five towns where I was employed I was always able to attend services at a branch church. Also, some years later I went overseas for seven weeks (traveling about twelve thousand miles in the course of the trip) and, except for a few times, found myself within easy walking distance of a Christian Science church.
From my youth Science has enabled me to overcome illnesses and other difficulties. I am so grateful for all those who have supported me along the way, especially a dedicated Christian Science teacher and compassionate practitioners.
