Christ Jesus' profound prayer in John 17 ends with this statement: "I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it: that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them." How beautifully these words apply to the Christ presence in healing.
Over a year ago I was healed of an undiagnosed illness. Symptoms of a cold appeared several times but quickly disappeared through my own prayer. Some days later I listened to an acquaintance describe in vivid detail a type of pneumonia—a belief I unwittingly failed to challenge—and, within a few days, the symptoms of this condition appeared in great force. When my health seemed to get steadily worse, I called for the help of a Christian Science practitioner, and prayerful support was lovingly given.
In a telephone conversation several days later, barely able to speak, I told the practitioner that I could not possibly go on any longer; that I felt taking steps in another direction would bring relief. I shall be eternally grateful for the practitioner's unshakable trust in Truth. I realized later that her potent words were for me one of the most meaningful dissections of fear that I had ever heard and, as I was to see, this conviction ultimately bore fruit.
