Recently a problem was solved in my life that, in a tangible way, helped reaffirm for me God's control of our lives. Being a lifelong Christian Scientist, I have seen the effects of the application of this teaching in outstanding ways. This recent experience was no exception and is so meaningful to me that I wish to share it, particularly with those who may be struggling with challenges relating to employment.
Because of some longstanding inadequacies in my employment of fifteen years, it seemed wise to apply elsewhere for a new position. I applied at one company and was interviewed by two individuals. Because of their response to my experience, I felt confident that I would be placed in the position I'd applied for. The job appeared to be desirable—one that would enable me to be of service to others and more fully utilize my skills.
During this time my wife and I prayed to understand that if this job change was truly progressive, nothing could keep me from it. Many times we located reassuring statements relative to employment in the Bible and in the works of Mary Baker Eddy that to us seemed to affirm this change as the proper step to take. After quite a long period, I felt convinced that I would get the job. After several more weeks, however, I heard from the company that I was not hired.
