What is your innocence worth?

From the April 1981 issue of The Christian Science Journal

In self-made cages of remorse, many have wondered if lost innocence can be regained. Behind bars, others have made the same lament. Throughout time, the Christ has held the answer: The real man's blameless state cannot be lost. But active steps must be taken in order to recover or strengthen our recognition and proof of this innocence.

Ever since allegorical Adam pointed the first accusing finger, animal magnetism—the evil of belief in personal sense— has continued to invent excuses for blaming others. The pointing finger, the imposition of guilt, would perpetuate hatred, envy, wars, and cruelty—everything that most plagues mankind. And not until we reach the remarkable Revelation of John do we find full justice at the spiritual level. Here too is the best exposure on record of the universal resistance of evil-mindedness against those who have sought Christ.

We read, "Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down ...."Rev. 12:10. As revealed in Christian Science, the basic innocence of man is quite distinct from the self-justification of so-called mortal man. John, in his Revelation, has exposed the false accusation of mortal mind as powerless; he knew the truth of man's demonstrable purity.
